self portrait challenge

TWO posts in one day?! well call me uncle...lol...we use to say that, i don't know why.

anywhoo ... took a couple of self portraits for emily pitts challenge over at SC. she really made me think outside the box on this one...

i wanted me and reflections and to capture what a gorgeous day it was outside so this is what i came up with...

i opened our sliding glass door to the back porch and i took the photo through the glass so you can see me and the reflections...i took a bunch but these two are my faves and i am smiling in one! ;)

paintin' in the house!

phew...

what a crazy week. man o man. we are painting the kitchen {edging is done}, the  entry way by the garage {done}, master bedroom and foyer/stairs upstairs/hallway upstairs. AND we are having a garage sale in 3 weeks so our garage...is literally....FULL! but i could not be more excited to sell this stuff and hopefully pay for a cuttlebug {shhhhhhhhhhh, the scrubster doesn't know that yet! LOL}

i have a little something here to share...i made this the other week from some AWESOME pageframe butterflies! i loooooooooooooove these things and this is my SECOND pack. sharon over at HSS sells them and is the owner of Pageframes.

i love little acrylic shapes {almost} as much as i love acrylic albums :) for these, just take your heat gun and heat up the middle of the butterfly until it begins to get soft {PLEASE use your tweezers for this!}. Once it gets soft, turn off the gun and bend the butterfly. Hold it there until it cools --it doesn't take long-- and voile! you have bent acrylic shapes.

I added some of my Mimosa Glimmer Mist to this frame. This frame is actually from an old Scarlet Lime kit i got awhile ago.

Don't forget to check out the Bean Talk blog, I have a card over there!

Marks Paper Co. Printable

Remember this post about Marks Paper Co. hybrid download? did anyone download the printable? well, i did! and this is what i made:

I just love that they were journal spots...they are my new obsession {for lack of a better word, hahaha} and I knew one of the contest requirements was to use a flower so this is where my brain went.

I love altering clothespins. Especially these since we got a bunch of them from Brian's pap's house before he died, along with his sewing machine. So I attached a magnet to the back and now i have a clothespin to hang on my fridge and remind myself things. I can keep these inspirational quotes in the pin or I can put a to do list, or a general reminder.

I got all this from one printable 8.5"x11" paper! I couldn't believe how my journal paper punch fit so perfectly with this.

Cards & Stuff!

My mom came yesterday and she brought her issue of cards and I got to the graduation section and I found I got a two page spread! woot woot! This isn't the greatest photo but I have to send it to my sister ;)

Here is a thank you card i did with some MME I got at Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking. Mark your calendars for National Scrapbooking Weekend! We will be having festivities there. I used my Kaisercraft Rubons across the chipboard.

AND DON'T FORGET! PAPER TRUNK BLOG CROP! They started the festivities yesterday and it goes through May 2nd. They kicked it off yesterday with an Earth Day challenge. I am sure you know how earth friendly their products are, which is very important today and in our houseold here. The first challenge was to do something round or rounded on a layout b/c the Earth is round. love that.

I also got my package from Emma's Paperie and it came wrapped all fabulously! another HUGE thank you for the give-a-way!

Darcie's Shadow Box = COOL!

This week I reviewed Jenni Bowlin Farmer's Wife collection, including the red diecut journaling spots, AND Darcie's Shadow box over at Serendipity Scrapbooks. I have a mini I made that I will post later this week.

These Darcie's Shadow Boxes are really cool! In this package, you will receive THREE different size shadow boxes. You do need to cut, score and glue them together but Darcie's provides you with wonderful, color, step-by-step instructions. And this box only took me a little over an hour to put together! that is not bad for this little treasure I have now to share with my husband. I would DEFINITELY recommend these. And did I mention you get THREE in a box?

The entire box comes in the package, you just need to cut it out, score it and then adhere it according to the directions. I used glimmer mists on part of it and covered the rest with pattern paper. You could the same or even use stamps on here since this is light weight chipboard.

I accented the our Anniversary Date on the calendar.

I chose to make a the 5.5" x 6.5" box and did a little something for our anniversary coming up in june. I used the Jenni Bowlin Farmer’s Wife collection and the red calendar journal spots.

This detail shot allows you to see the folding involved and where it needs to be covered with paper or something else. You could also leave parts of it white if it matched your project since these are great quality.

mmmm......

chips and dip...why are they so good? and why do i like to eat them at night? so, as i am typing this, i am getTing ready to go take a run. it is GORGEOUS here!

i love my BTA! do you? I use it so much. and this time i used it with the Teresa Collins premade boards that I got at HSS. This is for my dear friend Sarah {soon to be Sarah Lee, how cute is that}. she is getting married this weekend and she is a poet. and an amazing one. she has been through so much and for her to find this kind of happiness, makes my heart happy.

and an april wedding for a poet deserves some serious inspiration. here's to a lifetime of happiness, Sarah!

i raised the flowers on the frong cover with some pop-up dots.

i added some tabs to the papers along the side so she can make different sections.

and Glimmer Mists!

i made a little book to go with it that she might be able to carry with her in her purse.

AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHECK OUT MY FRIEND LISA'S BLOG. SHE IS GIVING AWAY SOME SERIOUS RAKS! AND SHE IS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST PEOPLE I KNOW.

Altered Photo Frame

When Bonnie from Scrapadilly sent me this Kaisercraft Patterned Paper, I just had to run with these butterflies...and the only thing i kept seeing was them "flying away" so this is what i came up with...

HSS sells these cute little acrylic butterflies. All you need to do is use your heat gun on them and they bend a bit. Just keep them bent and let them cool and that is it!

Hybrid in the house....

i am so excited. i haven't done hybrid in ages. i mean, i have journaled on some photos and used some digi stamps on my photos, too but not realy hybrid in sooo long b/c we moved the pc upstairs and haven't hooked up the printer yet. BUT now i have a reason too! Marks Paper Co. is having a contest...can't wait! And i love the idea of a calendar for my desktop so check it out. i am always running to get my cell to use the calendar on there. bleh.

So i used the scrappy formula over at CMK. i just can't get enough of the inspo over there. this layout cracks me up. look at my stud muffin! there is this killer restaurant where i went to school {juniata college} that serves homemade, organic foods and has the best imports on tap AND the theme of the pub is Boxers! yes, boxers like the dog...and we have had two boxers now and they are the best dogs ever...well...the first time we went to one of my reunions up there, we never went & brain never let me live it down! so this past October at my 10 yr we went TWICE! ha. so anywho...that's the story 'bout that.

and who cannot get enough of these journaling spots & other goodes from Jillibean Soup??!?!?!?! i just got a project picked up for ST Holiday Idea book using some of these journaling spots.

and look at this fun hempy/wirey/awesome ribbon the very cool and talented LUCY E sent me! thanks, girl!

Happy Easter Weekend!

I have to work today and then off to karaoke {i don't sing, brian and his friends do}. you don't want me to! Then work a bit tomorrow and get ready for sunday. we have a house full of people coming...11+ or so, so it should be FUN!

here are a few more things I worked on this weekend and guess what i got in the mail??!??!?! my scrappy box from The Shaker Box for my guest spot for may. and it has my FAVE products in it. FAVE! woot woot.

Here are a few more projects i did for the crop at CMK last weekend.

This first one is using the bleach stamping technique. I didn't have a stamp i wantedt to use so i made some pawprints with my paper towel. These are my boys, Chase and Max!

And then another one of Chase. I can't believe I got this shot of him sniffing the daffodil! i was just calling him over bc he likes to sniff the camera and those shots are so cute, too. i used my SNS ribbon on here...and of course, glimmer mists and color washes on the butterfly.

Lastly is a layout of some of my best girlfriends from college. I used the Mamosa Glimmer Mist on here and then my Art Institute glitter that i get from Serendipity Scrapbooks. Then i seal it with spray glaze that i get a the craft store. Love that stuff.

slack city here i come!

blogging that is.....after my surgery, i had some computer issues and i couldn't use blogger b/c most of the buttons were disabled. but i am fixed now! all around :)

CMK had an AWESOME online crop this weekend and they just knock my socks off with their fun challenges and they had a bunch of altering ones and i loooooooooooove to alter! so here are a few things from there.

i scrapped my heart out. it felt so good to get dirty again ;)

This was for a challenge to make a hanging bouquet on a styrofoam ball. Springy colors don't look right in my house so I used these Kaisercraft Papers and my circle punch. Then i loaded on the glimmer mist {on the Kaisercraft wooden butterfly too ;) oh and the ribbon from the April SavvyNSassy kit that i designed!

This fun card was for a challenge to cut out a frame in the front of your card and have it peak through! And i am so glad i splurged on these chatterbox frames from A Kiss on the Chic. Her kits are GORG and she has ridiculous addons.

A Sign I made with some Webster's and one of those cool Prima flowers. LOTS of Glimmer mists and Color Washes on this.
