so The View had a program on autism yesterday and I just can't believe how autism touches so many lives and I didn't realize it before the last few weeks. I definitely want to learn more about it and do my part. With so many of us still thinking of children in our lives, it is important to be aware of these things. Especially since boys are 4 times more likely to develop autism than girls. 1 in 166 children develop autism and it is the fastest grown development disease in the states right now???!??!? I got this information from the organization called Autism Speaks.

If anyone wants to know about a good cause check out this website....
http://www.autismspeaks.com/. The first thing you will see in the intro are the words, "Autism Speaks...For those who Cannot"...pretty powerful stuff. I believe that knowledge is power and an even better tool...let's start using, eh?

Okay so I officially entered the Amazing Crop Race II at Timeless Inspirations! How much fun is this going to be!!! Such a great idea and they really pick challenging things for you to work on. First challenge was to "press it or dress it". So many great ideas...some people ironed crayon shavings which I have heard of but never tried...someone used a pocket from jeans, onther person used the little flowers from her daughters shoes!!!

I chose the dress it too, and used a scarf that I had. It is Asian inspired and has great colors...It was hard to work with though because it was very stretchy, almost like it had some spandex in it or something....Anyway, it was soooo fun! I am adding the link to the right and including it here so please please please go to the gallery and check otu the amazing talent there! I am registered as howdee by the way...heeheehee!!!

I just read on another forum that Tuesday is supposed to be the most productive day of the week. Running errands, doctor's appts, things of that nature. Well, Owen and I were pretty productive in our jammies today! lol! how fun was it to spend a day in our pj's and just hang out. He is getting really good at recognizing his letters, not just singing the alphabet but knowing how to recognize the individual letter or number when it stands on its own. We play this game a lot with the letter and number magnets that go on the refrigerator...I get to get work done and he gets to play!

Okay...in the spirit of alphabet letters...here is a layout I made for the www.scrapgalaxy.com KI Memories contest...it is a little funky but totally fun to make! B is for boots and Owen has a lot of them!!!

I have another project for the contest I am working on...can't wait to finish that!

okay, so this weekend was one of those magical weekends for me. the one that just hits you that maybe your focus has been wrong, that you were wanting things for the wrong reasons, like a reminder of why we do the things we do and just how lucky we are all to have each other...

as i blogged earlier, i went to a Scrappin' Away Vacation (S.A.V.E) in the Poconos, PA this weekend hosted my Memory Lane, PA (LSS in Quakertown, PA). I have been to dozens of crops, long ones, short ones, far away ones, etc. But this one was by far the most amazing one I have ever been to and something I am glad to say I was a part of.

Ali Edwards was the guest designer and teacher for the weekend which was initially why we wanted to go so badly and because we wanted to support Rollie's store. We got an email a few weeks ago saying that this year's fundraiser for the event would be in honor of Simon, Ali's son, who turned five today. Some of us made donations, some hand made and others donated products....from croppin' bags to altered art and even a massage!!! lots of gorgeous stuff!!! WELL, thru a silent auction and a separate raffle (over 3 HuGe rolls of tickets) we raised $5192 ~~YES~~$5192 for Autism Speaks, a charity chosen by Ali that is near and dear to her. I am going to add the link to read about what she says b/c it is just so touching. http://aliedwards.typepad.com/

When Rollie presented her with the check there was not a dry eye in the room. She cried as she spoke and @ that moment I just melted and kinda grew at the same time. I was holding back my tears b/c once I start, I don't stop! and I looked behind at my friend Kim and tears were streaming down her face and I just lost it. I REALIZED RIGHT THEN AND THERE WHY SCRAP b/c if none of us did...if it didn't exist...if art and inspiration and what it means to all of us didn't bring us all together than that one moment would never have happened.

What a community we have created in this world...whether it is virtual or at crop...we have created something wonderful here that inspires us, moves us, and lives within each and every one of us and, I think, that is an ArT in and of itself....and more importantly...that we can create beauty both on AND off the page...

I am going to hang with my son now...peace out there to everyone...xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Ok so I am packing all my stuff for this weekend...we are heading up to the lovely Split Rock Resort in PA for a Scrappin' Away Vacation. My sister and friends live in Allentown, PA and the frequent a killer LSS called Memory Lane and Rollie, the owner is hosting this event.

After many email on much hard work, I am sooo excited. This will be our first S.A.V.E. but not first overnight crop! Ali Edwards is teaching some classes and a few of us are taking them so we are pumped.

Here is a little book I put together in celebration of valentines day coming up...enjoy! Who Do You Love????????????????
