CHA Bound!

Well, if you are reading this than I will be thinking of you in uber sunny California. I wanted to show you some of the layouts and projects that I created over at the Nook for their crop last weekend. It has been AGES since I got to participate in a virtual crop. It was so much fun and I was on a creative high from making CHA stuff for Core that I just kept right on going! Plus, it was 2 degrees here last weekend so we couldn't even go out and play in the snow.

I can't wait to get home and share some photos, with you from CHA. WE HAD A BLAST!

Here is a layout I did about Nutty Families (I don't need to explain a lot here). Lots of Jillibean Soup goodness on here. I don't know about you but I have been stalking their blog (and probably their booth right about now, LOL) these past few weeks. The background cs is Core Vintage.

I used my Diamond Glaze as an accent to the Jillibean journal sprout. OH and a BRAND new Elle's Studio journal spot, too.

And some Echo Park goodness here.

I ran the cs stickers through my Cuttlebug (put them on wax paper) and then I used my hammer and Cuttlebug embossing border for the cardstock edge. It's too big to run through the machine so this is an easy way to do it. Some ppl use a rolling pin but you need to really push hard so I bust out the hammer. Much easier and helps relieve stress, too ;)

Embossing Fabric

I think this month's Scrapbooks, etc has to be my favorite!I think I like this mag so much b/c of all the tips and techniques. You know me and my techniques ;)

I really enjoyed every layout and when I saw the tip on embossing on fabric I knew I had to try it with Webster's Fabric Fancies. If you have this issues you should definitely check out that article (layout is by Kandis Smith). I have tried to emboss on Webster's fabric trims before by adhering it to paper with spray adhesive and other various adhesives but it just didn't take. And if you know me, I emboss everything. Brian told me one day he is going to come home and the kids are going to be embossed, LOL!

So, what you need to do is use masking tape! DER! Hello, Ellen. All you need is some masking tape {sigh}. BrIlLiAnT! So when I saw there was a crop over at the Nook, I had to jump on this.

Here is the back with the masking tape after I embossed it with the Morrocan Folder (one of my all time faves). I practiced it on this one first, you know as a tester. So many times I just go for it and then ruin what I am working on. WELL, guess what. I LOVE the tester, LOL!

This is a rather simple layout but I wanted these photos on one page. WE have so much fun and I knew I wanted to use Garden Gala, too. This pp was one of my FAVES of WEbster's and I hoarded this last piece. I actually cut the center that is covered with the photos to use for the raised embellies....shhhhhhh!

Here is the back with the tape after it is embossed.

And then the front...

This is the one on my layout. I sprayed it with some Suede Glimmer mist so it looks a bit darker than normal:

OOOH! and didyou see the new colors at the Twinery??? :):):)

House Cleaning!

I don't know what got into me yesterday but I have completely gutted my scraproom from ceiling to floor! I went through bins of old stuff, ALL of my stamps and cleaned them, went through some drawers and bins. Re-Sorted my patterned paper and cardstock....hmmmm...Oh I organized my shelves that have my paint, mists and punches and some other things here and there.

PHEW! I sat down to do some more projects for Core'dinations for CHA next week and owen came in and asked me if he could help me clean and organize my room. ARGH, I guess that isn't a good sign, is it? I did get his stamp of approval today. He came in and said he was glad I finally "got around" to get things organized around here. SO 24 hours later I am done.

Make sure you check out the link on the right hand side of my blog!!! ANOTHER Cored'inations give-a-way! 40 packs of Tim Holtz cardstock!!! They were designed to match his Ranger and Distressed lines perfectly :)

And did you see??? The new DT was posted over at Webster's!!! It's going to be a great year. Last year was awesome being on the team and I am looking forward to some DT alum stuff. I am excited for change and some new adventures this year. I have been a part of the Ning site over there since I met Terri two years ago and it is still a home away from home for me. I go there everyday with my coffee, LOL!

Here are a few cards that I created for The Color Room Shimmerz Palettes. I love playing along with these since I have a lot of these colors.

I used my Kreaxions butterfly die (ran it through my Cuttlebug, they work beautifully) and then covered it with crepe paper and lots of shimmerz! Cardstock is Core'dinations.

And another one for The Color Room. I used Core'dinations Whitewash (from the Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions line) and loaded it with Shimmerz paints. I love using these on my Core!!!! It's pre embossed so you don't have to do any texturizing.

Magistical Memories Sketch

Hello Wednesday! The weeks just keep sneaking up on me. It is almost Friday so make sure you click the link on my sidebar for the Core'dinations Contest!!! You could win one of the BRANDNEW releases debuting at CHA!

So I wanted to share a layout I did for the Magistical Memories sketch challenge this month. When I saw the sketch with all the photos, I knew I wanted to scrap these. I have been holding onto them since this summer but I didn't have any MM chipboard that fit. I used my myStampBOX stamps (this cloud set is the cutest!!!) on some scrap chipboard with white craft ink (my FAVE technique!!!) and then cut them out and layered them where the cloud was on the sketch.

Patterned papers are Prima, cs is Core'dinations Cardstock Stacy Julian (it's not pre-embossed but in that collection you get core'dinating colors that are not embossed) and the green cs is gemstone. I also used quite a few SRM stickers.

a close-up of one of the SRM stickers. I matted them on white cardstock and use this fun AC button as the "point" in the exclamation.

Have a great week!

Webster's & Maya Road Frame

Since I have boys and boy dogs and a boy husband. I don't get to use purple that much. OR so I thought until Webster's came out with this Hollywood Vogue Line last CHA. It's funny b/c I knew I would looooove the houndstooth print but was nervous b/c of all the purple. Well, I have TWO sheets left of this line!!!!!!!!! That is how much I used it and Webster's is beyond generous with their product. So let's just say, that's a lot of projects! So when I got these photos developed of owen and this purple bucket, I had to run with it and this frame. We were collecting pine cones for Christmas crafts and bird feeders with the peanut butter and bird seed this winter.

The banners and letters are Maya Road Chipboard. I painted the bottom banner off white and then inked it purple. Covered the next layer in patterned paper and then finished off the letters with lots of layers of Plaid paint, Plaid crackle medium, glossy accents and more purple ink. Not to mention the frame is crackled as well. I love using non traditional colors to crackle. the photo is mounted with Core'dinations Gemstone cardstock in black.
You can click on it to make it larger and get a better look. I am using my P&S these days b.c my lens for my Nikon is broken :(

Here are some close up of the letters and the crackle medium. I used my sponge dauber and purple Stampin' Up! Ink and applied it and then wiped it off so the crackles picked up the purple.

After all of that, as a finishing touch, I sprayed it with Maya Road Mists. I LOVE the iridescent look of this color.

Have a great rest of your weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GCD Hometown Contest

WOOT! Check it out!

I made the top three over at the GCD Studios blog. How FUN! Too bad I am against the talented Susan Stringfellow and Therese Broman so I majorly {is that a word...maybe in my High School vocabulary, LOL) need your help. Make sure you head over by the end of Friday and vote for your favorite layout. It was a challenge to scrap your favorite photos from your Hometown. I snapped some photos of our favorite hangout/place to eat less than a mile from our house. We love it and there and so do the kids.

The brown cardstock is Core'dinations Chocolate box. The rest is GCD studios pp and some myStampBOX stamps.

It's a Snow Day!

Two hour snow delay today!!! Don't you wish you could go out and play for an hour and still have the energy to go to school? LOL! I love kids ;)

It's time for Cards on Friday! Hahaha...seriously no rhyme or reason to that. I just have to catch up on sharing some cards.

OH and a quick note....today is the LAST day to leave comments over at the Core blog to win some Core'dinations Cardstock!!!!! We had an awesome week teaming up with Helmar. Speaking of Helmar...all these cards are using their adhesives. Zap Dots...450 Quick Dry adhesive...tape runnner...you name it! AND they are doing a give-a-way on their blog, too ;)

This first card is on the Core blog today using some Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions and Vintage cardstock. Oh and some Unity stamps and May Arts Ribbon, too. Thought this would be a fun gift for my scrappy friends so I can give them some pins (we always swap stuff). Too bad I made this awhile ago and totally forgot about them come Christmas time. So typically me!

AND my Thanks card for Webster's Pages January Challenge. Thought this sentiment was just too perfect for my time with them this past year.

Oh, and a Merry Christmas card featuring the petite 6x6 paper from the Webster's collection. I loooooove these!!! The stamps is a Unity Webster's stamp embossed with clear embossing powder. I like the pop of color from the Jillibean Soup felt flowers.
