Hard Core Crop Handmade Elements Challenge

Welcome to Core'dinations Hard Core Crop!

Make sure you grab your blinkie and wear it proudly ALL WEEK LONG! Core'dinations is offering a prize the person using it as their Facebook profile photo so grab it here and head over to the Facebook event page and let them know.
PLUS we are chatting and sharing projects over there, too. IT'S FUN!

If you have joined us before the rules work pretty much the same. Whether this is your first time or you are a returning Hard Core Corpper PLEASE make sure you head over to the Core blog for a full list of rules HERE. They are pretty straight forward..you must use Core visibly on your projects, upload using the linky at the bottom of this post by midnight November 10th EST, and follow my challenge rules but please make sure you follow the rules and check them out on the Core blog. BUT the most important rule...is to CREATE AND HAVE FUN! :) If you would like to see a full list of the challenges head over the Core blog HERE for a list that will be updated continually throughout the weekend.

Now who wants to get crafty? My Challenge is all about using Handmade elements: Creating with Core'dinations is all about using techniques. For this challenge, I want you to create your own handmade elements on your project. Some examples are hand cutting embossed images, make your own flowers, draw your own designs and cut them out..sky is the limit! Punched or diecut images are okay but you must maniuplate them somehow to create something other than it's intended use like I did below... simply punching or diecutting an element is not enough.... BE CreAtiVe and have FUN

For my example, I used some David Tutera Celebrate Cardmaking system flowers on a smooth Kraft cardbase and cut them apart to create the Christmas tree. These were orginal starburst/flower images and now they are a Chrimstmas tree! Then I just freehanded the tree trunk our of some Chocolate Box and sanded it to release that inner red Core. And of course you gotta sand sand sand your Core! Finish off by adding a white sticker sentiment and other details on your cardbase.

You can do a card, layout, altered project...whatever you want!

Now..we are all about the Holidays here but feel free to make any theme card you wish as long as it follows the challenge rules. AND one lucky winner will get this awesome pack of Core'dinations Cardstock! Tim Holtz & Ranger Distress!

Use the InLinkz tool below to link up..blogs...galleries..Pinterest...Flickr...just make sure it is a DIRECT link.

Hopping with Tombow!

Who's with me? Oh, well obviously you are  if you are here :)
I have a layout for you today that I created using loads of Tombow and Core and some scraps of my Simple Stories patterned paper.  I was playing with my Silhouette and didn't have my blade right when I cut this sentiment. Me, being the hoarder that I am, was like, "how can I save this?"

The sentiment on the Kraft Core didn't really stand outs so you couldn't even read it. I grabbed some of my ink and sponge and just started dabbing it into the grooves. And, voila! You can read it.

Here it is light...I kept adding more ink...then of course adding some Tombow Stamp runner to adhere it makes it even easier!

One of the reasons (one of the many many many many many reasons) I love Core is because everything core'dinates! See the pic on the right?  That is the Chocolate Box that I used to scor and create the hatch marks in the bottom right hand corner of the layout. The pic on the left is the back of it...see how it matches my layout base perfectly? All of the lines match easily...no fuss!

I used the 6x6 Chocolate Box and then some Core Essentials.

And last but not least the TOMBOW!  I love the raised power tabs...make sticking things that need a bit more adhesive (like wood embellies) perfect!

Okay so ready for the hop???

Father's Day cards

Happy Saturday!  It feels so good to be back to creating these days. I even made some FATHER'S DAY cards! I never am on time with this kind of thing so I am pretty stoked, LOL!

They were up on the Core Blog this week to so check them out HERE.

I was inspired this week by two different things.
First up, I was working with some Couture Creations dies and after my cut I realized unfortunately that my sandwich was wrong. So it didn't cut all the way through. That happens to me from time to time and I just put them in my recycle bin. WEll not this this time! I thought...I can do something with that...and I did! You have to check out their Doily dies..they are AWESOME! And versatile....
There was no way I could cut this with craft knife because it was too detailed so I grabbed my Sand it Gadget and I sanded and sanded and sanded a bit more and the "etched" image created starts to pop off the card.  It's subtle but I think it works AND I saved some scraps ;)

I hope you can see that...in person it looks really cool. Subtle ...it looks almost like patterned paper. Just added some May Arts burlap string.

And next up I was in my inbox and the daily RSS feed from Scrapbook & Cards Today was there and I found this treat: Folded Shirt Card for Father's Day!
Aly Dosdal from the WRMK Design Team originally did the video so I had to try it out because I just KNEW that Core w0uld be awesome with this tutorial. I used Core Essentials for the shirt, Chocolate Box for the tie and background and a David Tutera Celebrate card for the base. I cannot get enough of these square cards!   For the original video check out the WRMK blog .
I gotta tell you...I did it on the FIRST try so it wasn't that hard. You will need your Scor-Pal or scoring tool of some sort.
And  here is the inside of the card. You can open it up and put something in there.

Sweet Stamp Hop Party!

And please don't forget about the Core'dinations Cardstock CARD Design Team Call!

First up the good stuff! The layout. I LOVE this cute little ghost guy. It is no secret how much I LOVE Halloween. The costume catalog came in the mail this week. YIPEEEEEEEEE!

If you click on the images you can see them in a slide show.  I honestly don't think banners are going anywhere! And this is my version of a layout with them. I LOVE being able to get SIX photos on ONE page!

I used some WOW embossing powder on the ghost and added googley eyes.

And just a bigger close-up (kind of an oxymoron LOL!)

This is only a small party of what you can win!!!!  There is some Core up for grabs, too!
So stop hopping! The prize pack is almost 300 dollars worth of goodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so the order....

Hop away and have fun! It is worth it for SURE!

Speaking of Scrapdango...we are sponsoring the Sketch Inspiration Site this month. Here is a layout I created with the May kit. Yes...I still have some left over :) I am saving all my bits and even have a few sheets that's how much paper you get. I love the Simple Stories line!

And if you haven't headed over to the Core blog in a bit, check out this tutorial from Lydia Jackson. I got my hammer out and went to town on this layout with my Tim Holtz embossing folders on the corners of the Chocolate Box cardstock.

It was so funny! Henry came into my room and asked me if I was mad at my paper, LOL!

Some close ups of these FUN Gel-a-tions stamps! I looove this set to pieces!

3 Scrappy Boys Guest Designer

Happy Sunday!
I prescheduled this post because I couldn't wait to share some excitement with you!

I was asked to be the guest designer over at 3 Scrappy Boys for May!!!
They have some scrumptious kits and a fun MB.
This month's kit is jam packed with cool embellishments and these fun
Life of the Party papers from Basic Grey.

I was inspired by a Vinni Pearce layout. I am not sure if you buy her digi products or visit her blog but she is amazing and has this cool, fresh style. I first found her when searching for some cool Word Art and has some insanely cool stuff. This is the post with the lo of the pie chart. I just LOVE this idea!

And some textures with my Cuttlebug. I covered the Studio Calico wood
veneer with some Core'dinations Chocolate box.

I have a fun tutorial coming for you for the "Snapshot" title later this week.
i used the NEW delicious gel-a-tins embossing poswers!

Have a great rest of the weekend!!!
