A blonde Serendipity DT Call ;)

Serendipity Scrapbooks has posted the DT call for the August-January Team. This place is my home away from home and if you get a chance you need to check it out.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

who loves to spend their scrubsters money? lol...since we both work {well, techniquely he is still laid off}, when i get to spend his money it is extra special! jk. it's all ours...i am just in a good mood.

so, i went blonde! i use to get lowlights and a few highlights but these are all high! i love to change it up and an i haven't been blonde in a looooooong time...since before owen was born, actually.

and here is a layout i did for the blog hop at Urban Anthology. It was fun! there were a bunch of requirements...using crepe paper {the bottom of the hat..it was white and i used color washes and glimmer mists} a big shape, masking..and lots more. TFL! it's LOaDeD with BoBunny goodness.

how could i forget!?

I just wanted to share a layout I did for Memory Makers Magazine. I have to tell you, handing the extra copy that they send you to owen's friend's parents {his two buddies in the photo} was the best feeling. We saw them at owen's kindergarten graduation and their grandparents were there too and their faces lit up.

The boys were like, "we're in a magazine! we're in a magazine!". It made me realize why I love scrapbooking so much. I was glad they didn't ask me for the layout! lol, jk ;)

I used some of my favorite Fancy Pants Paper for this one & lots of other misc. goodies.

so so bad....LOL!

don't even want to count the number of days i haven't blogged! i have been swamped.

LSSS is going on over at Serendipity and we finished up our crop over there. I had some projects do for Core'dinations and I have a layout going to CHA! yeah! and i have another project on the Jillbean blog {psyched to be getting a project of theirs pubbed in Scrapbook Trends Holiday book}.

SavvyNSassy {my numero uno place for Ribbon and all things Glimmer Mist and shiny} is having a DT call, so check it out!

AND i have some GREAT NEWS! i got a job teaching at a local community college! it will be one night a week for 4 hours starting mid-july. i am sooooooooooo stoked. this is EVERYTHING i have been working for, well, my whole life. it is my dream to be a college professor and i know this is a small step but really is a huge step for me. i have been sending out resumes forever {it feels like} and to get this call for an interview so exciting. so i have been preparing for the interview for days and have really submerged myself in that.

AND i cannot say ENOUGH about what Forward Progress has done for me. a months ago on this prompt, we all made 5 goals we wanted to achieve in 5 months and i honestly only have ONE MORE TO GO! when i did this month's prompt a week ago, i had three to go and now all i have to do is run my 5k since i got this job!

it's not too late to do your 5 for 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and to be honest. i NEVER would have done any of this if i did not hold my self accountable and get these goals on paper. i was sending out tons of resumes and i finally said, i am going to hand deliver this if i want it that bad and i did just that a few weeks ago. and bam.
here is this month's prompt. we worked on sharing the goals we have achieved so far.

Guest Designer over at....

Webster's Pages!

I fell in love with Websters awhile back when I got a kit with their first set of papers they released. I think I have owned and used almost everything else they have released since then! I got to work with Terri over at Serendipity Scrapbooks {who is featuring Websters, again, in July} and when she emailed me and asked me to be a guest designer, I could not have been more excited. I love hanging out over at InspireMe. The inspiration is amazing. Here is a link to my gallery. the first 6 are the ones I did with the new Sweet as Cherry Pie

I did a bunch of projects but I wanted to share this one with you first since I was so excited to finally make these wings. When I saw the vellum in my {hugely awesome} package of goodies, I knew I wanted to make these. I was inspired by this book, Taking Flight; Give Your Creative Spirit Wings, written byKelly Rae Roberts . It is loaded with cool projects! a HUGE thanks to my mom for giving it to me for my birthday last month.

First you need to make the shape of the wings out of wire. I used 20 guage so it is flexible yet pretty sturdy. Bend them to the desired shape....

and then add a layer of modgepodge to the back of the vellum {you gotta be fast b/c it may curl on you} and then place the wire on the glue.

add a bit more modgepodge over the wire...

and then add a layer of tissue paper. you may need to add more modgepodge if certain places don't stick. so keep pressing and adding until you get it the way you like... {why does my hand look like that?! LOL!}

you may need to add some more modgepodge and tissue paper b/c it may tear but that's okay.

now the hard part...letting it dry! it shouldn't take too long. mine was dry in a few hours...
the cut out the shape and you have some wings!

2 sketches for you

here is my card for the  card showdown over at 2Sketches4you. My super talented friend, Kimmy, posted about it on her blog so i jumped in! i just loaded it and there are 308 ppl in it! ACK.

here is the card i made based on the sketch by Laura below. I used Core'dinations Chocolate box Cardstock. Chocolate box? what is that you ask? it is soooo cool! as you sand it, the color comes out beneath the brown! so the "core" on this one is green.

i cut out a window in the card and put the rubon on the Jillibean Coupon {it said save the date and i would never use it so i used the part with the grid on it} and glued it to the inside of the card like this. So it is peaking through the inside of the card underneath the transparency. the great thing about their papers is that they are double sided so it looks pretty on the inside. When i cut out the circle for the frame to show through it was pretty jaggedy-looking, LOL! now the inside looks purdy.

almost forgot...here is the sketch....

punches, punches, punches...

i know i am always ranting about my circle punch so....i am going to do it AGAIN! lol...i never in a million years would have thought that my CM circle punch would get so much use when i bought it. but it is definitely a "go-to" staple in my room...so much that i leave it on my desk now so i don't have to keep on getting up. I also used my second favorite punch...my notebook stamp from stampin' up!

i am a contest fool lately! but i can't help myself on this one...you gotta check out this storage unit over at Patters blog.  I am not sure if you have checked out Triple the Sketch but she does really great sketches, too. You should check out Sue's , Stampin Things site as well..she has such great things and she is sponsoring the give-a-way. if she can't get you organized than maybe you need real therapy, not scrapping therapy! LOL!

Here is my layout...i used Core'dinations Vintage collection here...this is not sanded...it comes this way! don't you love the look? and less mess too...but you can certainly sand it more if you would like.  i added some My Little Shoebox letters and Jillibean Journal Sprout {love those clever names} and my FAVE coffee stamp from Stamper's Anonymous

Lily Bee Contest

i got these lily bee pp's and have always wanted to do a all about me album. it was fun, weird having lots of pix of me but i am learning to embrace that.

since i just turned 33 a few weeks ago, i thought it was fitting to have that in the title...anyone listen to ani difranco? love her, love her voice, her lyrics are aMaZiNg, and she can jam on the guitar like, well, aMaZiNgLy! LOL so she sings this song called 32 flavors and it starts out..."i am 32 flavors and then some..." so i tweaked it a bit to 33 flavors ...

here it is! and thanks for the fun contest...i cut out the front part of the album and made picture window in it. and lots of glimmer mists and color washes & other goodies, including the lily bee diecuts.

some close-ups...

when you flip over the tag it says "i love funky stuff" ;)

some journaling about the past year...

and i covered the back of the photo with some pp..see the next page...

the end!

watcha up too?

5 evals. 2.5 down, 2.5 to go {sigh}. i love them and hate them at the same time, lol!

BUT-- you know what got me through it? listening to this again...and again...and again. you have to listen to the entire thing. the end is the bEsT!

so no scrapping time for me this week wich bums me out. it has been raining and i always hibernate down there in the rain.

so how is everyone?

I woke up to seeing this over at the Core'dinations blog! It's my tag and bio... i am really excited about how great everyone is on the team and how much i have learned in such a short time. I love that i am rummaging through drawers finding things for my grubby little hands to sand. And i got my MM mag {last one = sad} and saw my LO in there! wen was so excited to see himself in a magazine.

AND check this out! i think i {heart} this site. i love her energy and zest for life. i am thinking AWESOME kits here...whatcha think?

here is a layout i did with some Anna Griffin pp's from Serendipity and some Core'dinations . I had to get a close up of Henry's pigsters. Also, he screams when he is in the water and this was the only part that was shaking or cyring hysterically! LOL!

Vacation Rocked!

we had such a blast. we were on the boat 24/7 and swam all day long. owen even jumped off the cliffs, which i couldn't believe! amber would ask him everyday on a scale from 1-10 how great his day and he would say...2000 or 700 million, lol. oh and i can't wait to show you pix of big bertha :)

but first i wanted to show you my first DT project i did for Core'dinations. Here is a small tutorial for it, too.

I saw that the corner of my piece of core was splitting, so i just decided to pull it apart and see what happened...and viola! i made this...

see that edge? just start peeling...

like this....

and you will get a strip like this...it will be much thinner than the piece of cardstock itself

So I stamped on the back of it {i didn't want the stamped image to show} and then cut them out.

Now the edges will curl effortlessly. Add some sanding and stitching and voila! You have an easy card. I added a My Stamp Box stamp to the bottom right hand corner.

And i love these framed cards i learned to how to make not to long ago at a crop.

Don't forget you can get all your Core'dinations cardstock at HappyScrappin' Scrapbooking!

I am off!

well, i am off for vacation tonight after baseball and work. we are heading to VA to see my sister and lounge on the boat for a few days. I would rub it in more but I do have to bring some work with me, lol!  so i will be lounging and doing treatment plans but it could be worse...hahaha.

i wanted to leave you with a card. i went downstairs to get some things for my sister and i was just on the GCD blog and saw this sketch so i made this card. i cannot go to my scraproom and not do anything!

I used the Chianti Line from GCD studios. I know it is an older line but I love it! i knew when i saw that circle on the sketch, this pp would be perfect!

here is the sketch...

here is the card...

Basic Grey Preorder & Some Review Items

Kristen at Serendipity Scrapbooks is doing a preorder for Basic Grey. From what I hear, preorder may be the way to go b/c these are HOT times! Click here for preordering and don't forget she is doing the deal of the day right now so you have to click on the links to the right that says "sales and specials".

Here are a few review items I did this month for serendipity. Kristen sent me Anna Griffin Flora papers and that includes the flocked butterflies. I also got some Hambly goodies and K&Co Flocked alphas and a few other goodies.

I just knew I wanted to alter something with this Anna Griffin Botanical paper. I just reminds you of flowers, garden and all that is summer!

I dont' know if you have ever been to Dani's blog but she totally inspires me with her pins and shabby sheek feel to things so I FINALLY used some of the pins I have in my stash!

I made these seed packets with some Stampin' Up templates I had that I never use. when I went rummaging through my stash, I found them and thought they would be perfect for the packets I bought my mom for Mother's Day.

I added some of my SavvyNSassy ribbon from May's kit!
