Die Cut Diva Guest Spot & Blog Hop

WELCOME TO THE DIE CUT DIVA BLOG HOP!

didn't Chris have some amazing goodies???

I have been so excited for this post for weeks now! I am one of the September Guest Designers over at Creative Cuts and More. YOU have to check out these fun die cuts! Terry has a ton of them in her store and they are SO awesome! she cuts them herself and you can pick from smooth or textured Bazzill, acrylic, tacky tape {just peal it off to adhere glitter}, felt, chipboard and more!

For my first project, I filled this candy wrapper diecut with Halloween Treats and then used some Brand new Jillibean Soup Ribbon, fibers and a Journal Sprout and a touch of Graphite Glimmer Mist to finish it off. Oh, and a new Pink Paislee Twilight Press on ;)

Next, {and a personal favorite of mine} I created this Halloween "Tree". I got this on sale last year during a fall clearance and it had some dried flowers on it. I snipped them off and had the twiggs left so I grabbed some guaze, Art Institute glitter, stickles, Glimmer Mist, Doodlebug crushed velvet flock, and Doodlebug Jewels and my dies and went to town!

Oh and how could forget my Cuttlebug!? I used the Swiss Dots and Moraccan folders. Not sure ifyou can tell but on this acrylic spider I used a MyStampBox stamp on it to give it some spots.

Now...let's hop! This is the order of the hop......HAVE FUN! and next is Stephany...

I am such a dork, LOL!

so...it's 4:20 am here and i can't sleep. i have been up since 2 and took more benadryl but still, alas, i am awake.

Why benadryl, you ask? that would be b/c my right eye is completely swollen shut from poison ivy. i bet all you east coasters know what i mean about this stuff...and i get it bad...i must have run into it this weekend {where i still have no idea} and spread it all over...my foot, ankle, leg, back of my thigh {this feels great when you sit}, all over my neck, ear and eyes...my eye is getting worse instead of getting better but at least my left eye is pretty much back to normal b/c i got some prednazone {sp?} today.

the bummer is, i can't even scrap! booooooooooooo! i tried to read tonight but it hard too so tv is my only other option and i am spent on that already.

so anywho...have your laugh...have your chuckle at my expense it is quite funny, actually!

i wanted to leave you with a layout and card from the Serendipity Scrapbooks Altered kit for September...it is loaded with Dream Street Sam papers and My Mind's Eye goodies and i just love these wooden brads from Chatterbox, they take Glimmer Mist really well. Oh, and i added a My StampBox stamp. I found this company over NSD weekend this year and have quite a few of their stamp sets {Glimmer Mist and stamps not in kit}. I used the Prima packaging from the flowers we got in the kit for the mask.

don't forget to go over to the Cuttlebug Challenge blog and leave comments! even if you don't do the challenge, you can still win from commets!

And i would be remiss if i didn't add something about today. i have been watching memorials all morning long, remember those who lost their lives this day September 11th, i am wishing their families peace, though i cannot imagine that kind of grief. cheers to all of our soldiers that defend this country everyday!

Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge No. 48

We are still having a blast partying away at the Cuttlebug Challenge blog! WOOT WOOT! I am loving my bowling theme!!! Owen always wanted a bowling party so now I am good to go with everything that I need.

Make sure you check out the tutorial on how to alter a tin for quarters for the arcade and how to alter a Jenni Bowlin bingo card for bing bowling! yeah baby.

So here is an altered treat bag and gift card. I used the NEW and FANTABULOUS Jenni Bowlin {kinda like Bowlin -g LOL} embossed Core'dinations cardstock from CHA this year. I sanded the embossed circles and thought, hey! these would make cute bowling balls! so i used my stylus and added some paint dots. Make sure you get your fave online store or LSS to get this stuff...it rocks!

and a close-up....

here is the bag and card....

ALSO! i have some BIG, HUGE news! We are having a Pimp Your Bra crop over at Serendipity Scrapbooks the weekend of October 16-19th!

We have loads of sponsors already! and they aren't all scrapbooking companies!!! ;) ;) ;)

Some scrappy stuff...

so how is everyone's weekend going so far? these past few weeks have been crazy busy but i thrive off of it for some reason.

i have actually scrapped a lot despite working more hours and owen having football and school starting...i don't know how but i have, LOL! i think it is b/c i make time for it, kwim? i schedule it in my day just like i do my job and it works...even if i don't have any mojo there is always cleaning my room up, LOL!

i got to do my first blog post/tutorial over at the Cuttlebug Challenge blog! this is what i made so if you are curious, click here. And of course i had to use some Core'dinations ;0

i also did a tutorial over at Serendipity Scrapbooks for some Webster's Pages trim. they have THE best trim! i just love it and i made this flower when i had my guest spot there and i got a lot of questions on how i did it, so i made one with pom pom trim.

i like the one with the brown, satin trim much better but you get the idea. plus if you are like me, than you have a TON of pompom trim lying around! LOL! i should have started it up a bit more so it was centered better but once you start, you can't stop on this b/c of the adhesive.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

It is a birthday celebration ALL MONTH LONG over at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog! Participate in all the challenges and get a chance to be pubbed in Ready Set Create! All the challenges and tutorials this month will be about making your own party, from invitations to party favors...we have the inspo for you!

First off...invitations...

The theme for my party is a Bowling Party! The great thing about a bowling party is it isn't genger specific. And I have some fun games and party favors up my sleeve for ya later this month. Can't wait to share them! My invitations feature Core'dinations Cardstock and the Cuttlebug Herringbong Folder. I love using my 6x6 acrylic block to sand an edge on my Core'dinations. It is super easy and looks great!

Make sure you let me know if you are playing along this month so I can come see!

Collage Press

Ya'll know how i love to alter so when i saw this challenge over at Collage Press, i jumped on it. i have been dying to use these journal spots in a creative way so this is what i came up with. plus, my FAVE quote! i don't know who said it but i am all about it. i want to carry this with me when all the parents are on their cell phones at football practice instead of watching their kids play, or when ppl are texting instead of driving. i get overwhelmed with frustration when i see the disconnect in our lives these days.

so this is what came out of that....

{the shadows this thing cast are amazing, LOL! every photo i took has a bit of shadow on it from the overhang of the frame.} each journaling spot has some stitching on it, even going off the page.

and a close-up:

Make sure you check out Danielle's blog here for a give-a-way {did someone say SLICE???} and this fun site called torendi -- it looks like it's gonna be cool!

Here is a little goodie package date/night party thingy that I made for Jillibean Soup and Core'dinations 2,4,6,8 Core'dinate project. I cannot get enough of this Floral Screen Cuttlebug embossing folder!

side view....

the tin....
close-up of the candle.... {i used my Stampin' Up! diamond glaze}

and the altered clothespin....i embossed the scallop shape from one of my Spellbinders dies.

Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge No. 45

My first Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge! I have been dying to get started, though I am still waiting for some stuff for the remaining challenges, I got to give these fun templates from Paper Popsicles a go!

I made two templates with my Core'dinations Cardstock and used one as my main piece and then cut the other one into two separate cherries & embellished them with some buttons. Shimmerz worked perfectly for the highlighting.

Make sure you check out what the rest of the DT did here at the blog.

and don't forget about the Caardvarcks blog hop with Core'dinations as the sponsor!

Forward Progress, Sad News, and a Crop!

Prompt 10 is up over at Forward Progress and we have a sponsor! Green Geco and Scrapadilly is donating a prize package! tks bonnie ;) I will share my project with you when i get back from vacation but go ahead and click on the link to check it out, this month's prompt is about being able to forgive in order to move forward. DEEP! ;)

So as i logged in to check my email today, i got an email from CMK {i sub to the announcements section so i can get news when new stuff arrrives in the store, lol} but i am sad to say the store will be no more. CMK will be closing it's doors as of Aug 31st. CMK was one of the first places i ever joined. i have made some long lasting friends there and i am just plan sad. maybe i can convince them to come hang with me at Serendipity ;)

With that being said, pre-crop challenges are posted for The
Happily Ever After Crop
next weekend and they are fun! Nothing like a crop to cheer you up a bit. Make sure you check out the August Kits, too! The last few posts I have done with the Collage Press Knave of Hearts and OA have been from that kit.

Here is a little matchbox I made with some of my scraps and a Label Tulip Stamp :

vacation here i come!

so i haven't had a chance to go on my weekly blog visiting trip b/c i am jamming all my hours for work into 3 days! we leave for vacation tonight after i teach my class and i cannot wait! the only thing is, is that my boss is sitting on my class tonight so i am nnnnneeerrrvvvvoooouuuusss! {that spells nervous, LOL}

to calm my nerves this week i did the CPS sketch this week. here is my card:

Core'dinations Chocolate Box Cardstock {the core is green so when you sand it, the green comes through}. then i used the collage press journal spots along the sides as closures.

i printed my journal right on the back of the Core'dinations cardstock and then embossed it with the Twigs Cuttlebug folder. AND, of course, my fave Webster's Pages alpha stickers.

i used removable adhesive on the back so these journal spots just peel right off to open.

So much going on...

i thought things were supposed to slow down at the end of the summer, LOL!

brain started his new job and owen started football last week so we are trying to get into a groove with that. so from every saturday moving forward, i will be camped out on the football field cringing and cheering! here he is with his game face on.

i am super excited...terry from Creative Cuts and More called me and i will be a guest designer for them in september and then again in june or july! they have the best premade diecuts so make sure you check out the store. and they are having a blog hop tomorrow with lots of inspo and give-a-ways.

maggie called me this weekend, too and it was so good to talk to her again. maggie was the first person i really clicked with when i started finding my way around this online scrapping community and she brought me onto her digi team to do some hybrid a few years ago. with my marketing background, her and i would do a lot of brainstorming sessions, LOL! so when she called me asked me to join the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog team and help promote the site i could not have been happier!

i am so excited for these new opportunities that i have been given lately, i just wanted to share.

Here is a little mini matchbook journal i made with the October Afternoon papers and journal spots from the Serendipity Scrapbooks Just Enough Please kit for August. I used the Cuttlebug Houndstooth Embossing folder on here with the Core'dinations Whitewash.

New Core'dinations!

I know a lot of people have been awaiting these....

check out the new lines from Core'dinations! Core'dinations is also sponsoring the Serendipity Scrapbooks Shape it Up Monthly contest.

Ebony and Ivory™, Sugar and Spice™, and the Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions Collection™. Each assorted pack differs in style and presentation. For instance, the Ebony and Ivory™ pack combines the Whitewash™ and Black Magic™ Specialty Collections with sunny Core Essentials™ colors while the Sugar and Spice™ pack mixes the Vintage™ and Chocolate Box™ Specialty Collections with rich, autumn-tinged Core Essentials™ colors.

The
Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions™ Collection pre-embosses original Jenni Bowlin patterns onto red, black, and tan Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock®.

Here is a layout I did with Core'dinations that was featured in the August Serendipity Scrapbooks Just Enough Please kit. There were 2 sheets of black magic and i sheet of whitewash in this kit. For a tutorial on how to create this edge {thanks to lydia who showed me this} click here. I added the corner punch for a bit of flair. If you have a Scorpal then you are set, LOL!

And another layout from the kit utilizing the Collage Press Diecut Circles. there goes henry up the stairs...AGAIN!

happy weekend!

i hope everyone had a great weekend. i went to the 'rents to hang with them and my very good friend louise visited and the girls scrapped while the boys played. it was so good to see "aunt weezie"! and to scrap...i think i got them hooked on Core'dinations! woot woot!

here are a few projects i did for Serendipity this month. The Just Enough Please kit is jam-packed with Collage Press, October afternoon, thickers, WRMK rubons and Basic Grey buttons. FUN! i can't get over how kristen combines different companies together and makes it work so well. i just love kits that mix and match product.

I have 7 projects from this kit. i won't slap all of them on you in one post...here is an "altered item" i did and a layout, and a card...

before ..... {these fun little guys came in the kit...aren't they cuuuute? they are from Cook Bookin} when i saw this packaging i had to run with it...it's the first thing i made...

after........

some of the Collage Press Knave of Hearts goodies in the kit:

at the crop andrea and i went to last week, she cut this out for me from her Cricut with the Damask print.....LOVE it. told you that girl can work a cricut.

{cork letters NOT in kit}

and, again, andrea let me use this cuuuute cuttle bug folder and i embossed it with my cuttlebug on the Core'dinations Cardstock whitewash and sanded it.
